The Rock Garden
Calhoun, GA — about 50 miles / 50 min away
Dewitt Boyd started this miniature village in 2007, growing it out of a 'Town Game' he played with his children, and has built 50+ tiny castles, churches and other structures from cement, wire, pebbles, shells, tile and broken china, including a Notre Dame-inspired cathedral with stained glass. A one-mile dirt and gravel trail crosses two creek bridges and climbs a hill; the church rates it moderate with a steep incline. Open March-October 8am-7pm and November-February 8am-5:30pm, no entry after closing. Free, donations welcome. Porta-potties near the parking area. Not handicap accessible (uneven surfaces, narrow trails). No pets, please don't climb the structures or move figurines, and supervise children. Run by the Calhoun Seventh-Day Adventist Church: 1411 Rome Road SW, Calhoun, GA 30701.
